Hydro-Mec worm gearboxes

The worm gearboxes from Hydro-Mec are modular designed and comprise countless combinations. The housing is made of aluminum or cast iron and may be supplied with stainless steel hollow shafts.

The input side is provided with IEC motor flange or with a free input shaft. The output side is supplied with a hollow shaft as standard, and mounting of shafts from both sides is optionally. The worm gearboxes can be supplied with a torque arm, flanges of different sizes or with feet to be fitted in three different positions. The many different gear ratios appear from the below table. If the ratio of one gearbox is not sufficient the gear ratio may be increased by fitting an additional worm gearbox or a helical gearbox.

The worm gearbox from Hydro-Mec has a single-piece housing, that combines light weight with high tensile strength. The housing is precision machined for alignment of bearings and gearing, and is vacuum impregnated for protection and sealing, and therefore no extra sealing is required. The input shaft and worm shaft is a single piece alloy steel shaft, case-hardened, ground, and the teeth are profiled and radiused for noise reduction and enhanced efficiency. The oversized bearings support the positively-retained high speed shaft for higher shock load capacity, which is ideal for frequent starting and reversing application. The worm gear is of bronze alloy which is centrifugally cast on an iron hub for maximum strength and superior service life, and a hollow output shaft as standard reduces the total drive size, weight and cost. The gears are hardened and grounded and the flange is fully modular to IEC and compact integrated motors. 

Optionally the housing can be supplied in cast iron, the flange can be supplied as a NEMA C flange, and the output shaft can be supplied as single or double solid output shafts.

The worm gearboxes are available in a center distance of 30-110 mm for the O-Series and P-Series and in center distance 40-125 mm for the Q-Series. and we keep all sizes and gear ratios in stock.
