Claw couplings, also known as elastic couplings, are an optimal solution for positioning applications, no matter how high a torque is needed to be transmitted. Claw couplings are often used to correct different types of alignment errors.

Claw and servo couplings

Claw couplings, also known as elastic couplings, are an optimal solution for positioning applications, no matter how high a torque is needed to be transmitted. The key element of the claw couplings is an elastomer part inserted between two hub halves. The elastomer insert transmits torque from 0.5 to 25,000 Nm with low backlash due to a keyway connection, and hence compensates for axial, lateral and angular shaft misalignment. When the correct size and hardness of the elastomer insert is selected, it will optimise the complete drive train and at the same time show important characteristics such as vibration damping, torsional stiffness, and thermal stability.

Also, we are able to offer claw couplings from R+L Hydraulics (formerly known as Raja-Lovejoy GmbH). The claw couplings from R+L Hydraulics requires no maintenance and has an operating temperature range between -40 °C and +100 °C. Short temperature peaks up to +120 °C are admissible. Torque range is as standard: 7.5 - 6650 Nm.
